The presentation of Fluid Power 4.0 at Hannover Messe 2023 once again impressed with innovative approaches. Not only the familiar exhibits were showcased, allowing QR code scans and exploration of administration shells (‘Digital Twins’), but new manufacturers and exhibits were also featured. A particular highlight was the live stream in Hall 8: Using a demonstrator, it illustrated how various OPC-UA Companion Specifications (e.g. for a weighing unit and a stack light) can interact with the asset administration shell (of a fluidised axis) and how the strengths of the individual formats can be combined. Live data was directly sent from the OPC-UA server to an asset administration shell, where it was also accumulated into service life data.
